ESEF - Madrid March 30, 2020, 18:30 pm

Place: Madrid
Date: 30/03/2022
PUA Prof. Martin Carbajo Nuñez will participate in a series of eight meetings organized by the School of Franciscan Studies in El Pardo (Carretera del Cristo s/n - 28048 Madrid). The whole series will be focused on the Encyclical Fratelli tutti. Each week, a professor will give a dissertation on one of the eight topics that have been scheduled. Professor Carbajo will speak on March 30 at 6:30 p.m. on the subject: "The Fraternal Economy: A Franciscan Perspective". The conference will last 50 minutes, and afterward there will be a time for dialogue and questions. The main ideas prof. Carbajo will develop are these:

The Franciscan vision of the economy, which had a remarkable development during the 13th-15th centuries, keeps being relevant today. This fact has been recently recognized by Pope Francis when he convened a world meeting of young economists in Assisi, entitled “The economy of Francesco”, to promote a more fraternal economic system, more attentive to the poor and the environment. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting ended up being held online on November 19-21, 2020. This article presents the fundamental features of the Franciscan economy that the Pope has once again proposed as an inspirational model for a new economy today. The encyclical Fratelli Tutti serves as a framework for this fraternal economy
