On December 15, 2025, a farewell dinner was held in honor of Prof. Martín Carbajo-Núñez, who is returning to Rome after having taught during the fall semester at the Franciscan School of Theology (University of San Diego, California). In the preceding days, friends of Prof. Carbajo, including Corinne and Fr. Vicent Messi, had also hosted farewell dinners in his honor. A few weeks earlier, some of his students likewise organized another dinner for him and presented him with a beautiful gift, as they customarily do each year.
This is only a “see you later,” since he is expected to return next year to teach once again at this university. This semester marked his tenth consecutive year teaching here for one semester.
Previously, beginning in 2021, he had taught several summer courses while conducting research in the libraries of the University of California, Berkeley, and the Graduate Theological Union (GTU), where the Franciscan School of Theology was then located.
Prof. Martín Carbajo expressed his deep gratitude to this academic institution. He also thanked Fr. Christofer Gaffrey, OFM, for his words of appreciation, as Fr. Gaffrey publicly stated that Prof. Martín’s classes had been among the best he had received at the Antonianum, and he further expressed his conviction that the students in San Diego will have greatly enjoyed and benefited from his teaching.
