Prof. Martín Carbajo-Núñez has been invited by Br. Manuel Díaz Buiza, President of the Governing Team of the Franciscan Schools of Spain, to participate in their annual Congress, which will be held in Madrid on Friday, February 19, 2027.
As part of the event, Prof. Carbajo will deliver a lecture entitled “AI, Education, and Wisdom: A Franciscan Perspective,” in which he will address the challenges and opportunities that Artificial Intelligence presents for education in light of the values of the Franciscan humanist tradition.
The lecture will be followed by workshops devoted to best practices for the use of Artificial Intelligence in educational institutions. This second part of the program will provide an opportunity for participants to explore, in a practical and collaborative way, some of the challenges that the rapid integration of these technologies poses for teachers, students, and educational communities.
Prof. Carbajo’s presentation builds on his recent research into the anthropological, ethical, and social implications of Artificial Intelligence. One of the fruits of this research is his recently published book, Brother Robot: Artificial Intelligence and Franciscan Humanism, which is already available in three languages: English, Italian, and French
By the time of the Congress, the book is expected to be available also in Spanish and Portuguese. Both editions are currently being prepared for publication.
The Madrid gathering will thus provide an important opportunity to reflect together on how Artificial Intelligence can be responsibly and wisely integrated into education, placing it at the service of the human person, human relationships, and an educational vision inspired by the values of the Franciscan tradition.
